Jose Francisco Borges is a distinguished Brazilian poet and woodcut artist. He taught himself to make woodcut prints to put on the cover his booklets, Literatura de Cordel or Stories on a String which were often suspended on lines in outdoor market booths. These graphic images increased the appeal of his booklets. J. Borges is widely recognized as a master folk artist and is represneted in the collections in several museums in the U.S., Europe and Brazil. With Borges' permission, this handmade card features a reproduction of a Borges print, rendered in multi-dimensional cut out paper.
