Speak to the Moon

In Haitian Oil Drum art, the designs are chalked out on flattened steel oil drums and then cut out with a mallet and chisel. Characteristics of these metal sculptures include areas that are concave or convex, intricate patterns are created by hammering in "bumps" of different heights.

The moonlit aura of this magical round is illuminated by a canopy of stars. The moon is listening and glistening.

By the time he was nine, little Norvh Saint Bonheur was flattening out steel drums in the shop of his neighbor, Pierre Jocelyn.  Realizing he needed more training, he joined the shop of Julio Balan, where he learned techniques of drawing and design.
